About us:

With the turn of the millennium we opened our IZUMI restaurant right in center of Berlin and quickly developed to become one of Berlin’s most successful Sushi places giving us the opportunity to embody our love and passion for the Japanese cuisine. Ranked second at the Gastro Awards, IZUMI only had to surrender against the winning candidate from Potsdam which makes us verifiably the number one in Berlin.

Furthermore our restaurant has been awarded the “Gastro Gold Medal” for excellent accomplishments within the gastronomy business in 2009/2010. The secret of our success is the invariable use of high quality ingredients. Whereas most Sushi restaurants use Norwegian Salmon, we only use valuable Scottish Salmon that is boned and filleted by our Sushi masters who provide experience of over 20 years.

Another quality feature is that our dishes are prepared with specially filtered water and flavored with our specifically created seasoning that makes the basis of our products’ unique taste. Also we are only specialized in Sushi and authentic Japanese starters which means that we do not mix any kinds of Vietnamese, Chinese or Thai influences and therefore concentrate on the perfect preparation of Sushi.

The many positive reviews of our almost 7.000 regular customers by now confirm the success of our philosophy. “Sushi are the flowers of Japan” and according to this device we are trying to show all guests our love for the Japanese cuisine and tradition. The discreet eastern Asian atmosphere does not only attract the employees of the Japanese embassy on a regular basis. Also famous public figures like politician Joschka Fischer and model Eva Padberg or corporate clients such as the “Hilton Berlin” or “Feinkost Käfer” belong to our content client list.

Being asked how a Russian family ended up running a Japanese restaurant we like to say „With passion, enthusiasm and the enjoyment of foreign cultures!”
